What is CompTIA Network+ Certification?

CompTIA network+ certification is a mid-level credential designed for network technicians. It is vendor-neutral and recognized in different parts of the world. The certification is aimed at verifying the competency of technicians in various areas, including configuring and supporting TCP/IP clients. The professionals are required to demonstrate knowledge on hardware setup, troubleshooting, cabling, installation, network design, and more.

The credential is sponsored by the Computing Technology Industry Association (CompTIA). It meets the requirements of the ISO 17024 standard and Defense Department's Directive 8670.01-M. Industry experts are responsible for its development and maintenance.

The exam includes a wide variety of situational and conventional questions. It comes with single and multiple response questions, performance as well as drag and drop questions. The test is designed for individuals with an A+ certification and/or at least nine months' relevant work experience.

Test takers are required to demonstrate knowledge of the OSI model and network components. To pass the 90-minute exam, individuals need to score at least 720 on a scale of 100-900. The total number of questions is ninety. The test is available in multiple languages, including German, Japanese, and English.

The certification is renewed every three years to ensure that network technicians stay up-to-date with new developments. However, this requirement only applies to professionals obtaining the credential after January 1, 2011.
